The Nigerian Military under the Operation Safe Haven says it will not be distracted in its quest to protect lives and property of people within its area of operations.
The Sector 7 Commander, Operation Safe Haven Kafanchan, OPSH, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum stated this on Tuesday, shortly after leading troops on a show of force across communities in Atyap Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Recall that Atyap communities have suffered renewed attacks this year which resulted to the dead of over 70 people property burnt and destroyed.
General Opurum who lamented that in spite efforts he along side his men have put to maintain peace in troubled communities in Southern Kaduna irrespective of tribe or ethnicity, a section of the people have continued to blackmail him of aligning with the attackers.
While addressing the Fulani and Hausa community leaders in Zango Urban shortly after the show of force, the OPSH Sector Commander, warned that henceforth, the military will deal with anyone who takes the law into his hands in the name of carrying out revenge in whatever guise.
Opurum who was visibly furious, said the Army are now more prepared to gun-down trouble makers from both the Atyap, Hausa and Fulani communities, adding that the time for pampering and begging the people to embrace peace was over.
While warning those planning and carrying out attacks across the communities in Southern Kaduna to put an end to it, the Commander was emphatic that they will meet their Waterloo if they fail to heed the warning.
Salama News reports that there have been renewed attacks in Southern Kaduna Communities with more than 100 lives lost in 2023 alone and property worth billions of Naira destroyed.
