Determined to foster unity and consolidate on the existing cordial relationship between the military and host community, the General Officer Commanding three division, Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim has distributed palliatives to one hundred less privileged persons in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Distributing the consumables during a colourful event held on Wednesday at the premises of the Forward Operation Base Gwantu, Major General Ibrahim commended people of the area for choosing to live in peace with one another.
The GOC, who is also the Commander, Operation Safe Haven Jos, explained that the gesture was also part of its military – civil operations to enhance harmonious co-existence between the military and the locals.
He tasked the people to continue to provide the military with useful information on activities of criminals so as to tackle them headlong with a view to curtailing them to the bearest minimum.
Earlier, the Commander Forward Operation Base Gwantu, Major Mohammed Galadima said the beneficiaries who were mostly widows and the physically challenged were drawn from across the different ethnic and religious groups of the four chiefdoms in the Local Government Area.
He thanked the GOC and the community for the support they have been according his officers and men in carrying out their duties seamlessly, and solicited that the tempo is sustained.
Giving his Royal blessings the Uchu Fadan Ninzo, Alhaji Umar Musa thanked the military for all the sacrifices they had been making to keep the peace in the area and reaffirmed the commitment of the Traditional Leaders to providing useful and timely information on criminal activities to the security operatives.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke in an interview, thanked the General Officer Commanding for alleviating their suffering and prayed God to reward him.
Salama News reports that the items distributed to each of the beneficiaries includes 10kg bag of rice, packs of Maggi and salt.
