Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Felix Hassan Hyat has accused the Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Hon. Jonathan Asake of flaunting the template given to him to distribute funds donated to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Southern Kaduna by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on a live radio interview at the weekend in Kafanchan, Hyat accused Asake, who was the then SOKAPU’s President for misappropriating part of the N120m meant for the IDPs in Southern Kaduna region.
It would be recalled that Governor Wike, following the incessant killings in some parts of Kaduna, especially in Birnin Gwari and Southern Kaduna, had donated the sum of N200 million to be shared in order to augment the plight of the victims in Southern Kaduna who suffered attacks over the years.
Hyat explained that out of the N200 million, SOKAPU through Asake’s leadership received the sum of N120 million because of the peculiarity of the attacks in Southern Kaduna region, while other parts of the state got N80 million through the Jama’atul Nasir lslam (JNI).
He said a detailed template was given on how the 120 million naira will be shared among the affected Local Government Areas based on the level of damage they suffered.
Hyat pointed out that based on the breakdown, Zango Kataf got 25 million naira, Kaura 20 million naira, Jema’a and Chikun LGAs got 15 million naira each, Kajuru got 10 million naira, Sanga 5 million naira, while Lere and Kagarko Local Government Areas also got 5 million naira each.
However, Hyat explained further that while the JNI complied with the template given to them on how to share the monies, SOKAPU flagrantly refused to utilized it. Rather, they formulated a sharing formula that was not inclusive, adding they refused to carry along the stakeholders that were captured in the template given, but spent the sum of N60 million for the purchase of sundry relief materials, contrary to the priority needs of IDPs.
Commenting on the forthcoming general elections, Hyat urged electorates in the region to come out en mass and vote for PDP in order to restore their hope and sanity.
