The women leader of the Labour Party in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mrs. Victoria Chimtex has been assassinated by unknown gunmen.

She was said to have been killed on Monday night by the gunmen who invaded her residence at about 8pm.

The victim’s husband was also said to have been shot and was rushed to the hospital.

Although the police authorities were yet to confirm the incident, however, the Labour Party governorship flag bearer in Kaduna State, Jonathan Asake in a statement yesterday signed by his media aide, condemned the gruesome murder of Mrs. Chimtex.

Asake said the killing of Chimtex was a clear case of political assassination in view of her rising profile in the area and charged security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book in the shortest possible time.

He prayed for the repose of her soul and the quick recovery of her husband who sustained serious injury from the attack and is lying critically ill in the hospital.

Similarly, the Southern Kaduna Labour Party Senatorial Candidate, Engr. Mike Auta in a statement he personally signed and issued to Newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, condemned the barbaric murder of Mrs. Chimtex, wondering what could make anyone to take the life of another human being.

He also advocated thorough investigations into the matter, with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
