The Agwom Akulu, His Highness, Yohanna Sidi Kukah has cautioned his people on the need to always pursue peaceful coexistence between and amongst them for instead of back stabbing each other.

 

Speaking during the 2022 National Congress of the Ikulu Development Association and the election of National Officials of the women and youth wing of the Association held at the weekend in Kamuru Ikulu, the monarch commended the leadership of the Association for always working hard to unite the people under one umbrella.

The Agwom Akulu advised his people to ensure they actively participate during the coming general election, by electing only those they feel will bring succor to the present challenges confronting the country.

 

While appealing to politicians to engage in issue based campaigns, instead antagonistic one, Mr. Kukah noted that election is not a do or die affair, as such they should be open minded and be ready to accept defeat.

 

Earlier, National President, Ikulu Development Association, Mr. Bature Likoro said though the past year has not been without some challenges, the future of the Development of the Association can only be surmounted with the support and cooperation of members.

He tasked the people to continue to support the leadership of the Association and the new executives of the women and youth wings of the Association that emerged during the congress.

 

 

Salama News reports that the elections which was keenly contested saw the emergence of Mr. Moses Ma’aji as the new National Youth Leader of the Association haven garnered 44 votes to beat his contender Umar Ashafa who scored 20 votes. Dauda Yohanna and Paul Barsheru emerged as the Vice President 1 and 2 respectively. The office of the Secretary was won by Emmanuel Luka who scored 34 votes.

 

In the women wing, Mrs. Azumi Bala emerged as the National chairperson, Naomi Samaila and Sarah Stephen were elected Vice 1 and 2 respectively, while Mrs. Mary Jatau was elected Secretary.
