Weeks after its formal inauguration, the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council, SKLC, has presented the Southern Kaduna socio-political charter for political engagements with those seeking elective offices in the State.
Presenting the seven point Charter on Friday in Kagoro, the Chairman of the Council, Elder Dare Akau said the move was to change the narrative and give the people a sense of direction especially now that the electioneering campaigns has started.
Elder Akau explained that membership of the Council does not represent any political party, rather it protects only the interest of Southern Kaduna and her people.
He noted with dismay that the people of the region have contributed and sacrifices alot to the unity and development of the Country, but the region does not have the commiserate infrastructural development.
While urging the people in the area to join as many political parties that appear appealing to them, the SKLC Chairman tasked them to put the interest of southern Kaduna above their personal gain wherever they are.
He pointed out that the Council going forward will use the developed charter as the tool to engage politicians and commit them to sign to abide by the document if they eventually emerge victorious.
In their contribution separately, the Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure and the President of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union, SOKAPU, Mr. Aweni Dio Maisamari commended the Southern Kaduna elders for birthing the Council which they noted will go a long way to unite the people to begin to speak with one voice.
They hoped that those who ever emerge victorious during the 2023 general elections, will commit themselves to the charter.
They also challenged political leaders to always imbibe the habit of returning home on a quarterly basis to give an account of their stewardship to their people, so that the people will be on the same page with them.
In their various contributions, those present at the occasion, commended the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council for taking it upon themselves to develope the charter which they pledged to take ownership of the document to move the zone forward.
Salama News reports that the event was organized for sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna playing key roles in the political spheres.
